News: Rachel Zegler to Star in Live Action Version of Snow White

Rachel Zegler, who will soon be seen on the big screen as Maria in Steven Spielberg’s version of “West Side Story,” has been announced as Snow White in Disney’s live action remake of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. "

“Snow White” was Disney’s first full length animated feature and was released in 1937. According to Deadline, the remake will expand on the music and story of the original film, and feature new songs from “The Greatest Showman” team Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Marc Webb is slated to direct and Marc Platt is signed on as producer, with production beginning in 2022.

“Rachel’s extraordinary vocal abilities are just the beginning of her gifts,” Webb said in a report from Deadline. “Her strength, intelligence and optimism will become an integral part of rediscovering the joy in this classic Disney fairytale.”

Since the animated film’s original release, the story of the fairest of them all has been adapted many times, including “Mirror, Mirror” starring Lily Collins and Julia Roberts, and “Snow White and the Huntsman,” starring Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron.
