News: The Shakespeare Theatre Company Delays “Our Town” Run

The run of Shakespeare Theatre Company’s production of Our Town has been postponed. The show, directed by Associate Artistic Director Alan Paul and featuring a cast of DMV-based actors, will be moved from February 17 – March 22 to May 12 – June 12, 2022. To accommodate this adjustment to the season’s calendar, Simon Godwin’s production of “Much Ado About Nothing” will be moved to the 2022/23 season, with specific run dates to be announced later. Ticket holders for both shows will receive further communication soon regarding new performance dates.

The theatre said in a statement that it believes audiences will feel more comfortable returning to its spaces in the spring. Executive Director Chris Jennings states “It is imperative that we make choices to help protect the theatre as well as our community. The decision to pause our season until March aims to protect the staff, artists, and audiences of the Shakespeare Theatre Company.”

Shakespeare Theatre Company looks forward to welcoming audiences back for the remainder of an incredible season starting with “The Merchant of Venice“ in March, “Our Town” in May, and “Red Velvet” in June. Jennings continues, “We thank our audiences and the DC theatre community for their understanding, support, patience, and their continued ability to adapt.”
